The application provides essential tools for the identification of pest insects and weeds while offering real-time forecasting capabilities, specifically tailored for Canadian field crops. It aims to support users in implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices effectively within their agricultural operations.
Current identification features encompass insect pests affecting canola and wheat, as well as weedy grasses prevalent in Western Canada. Presently, real-time forecasting is focused on the Bertha Armyworm (Mamestra configurata). Additionally, the app includes comprehensive farm management functionalities that allow users to track various crop activities such as seeding, harvesting, irrigation, financial management, and pest management applications.
This application has received funding from notable organizations including the Western Grains Research Foundation, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Growing Forward II, and the University of Manitoba.
